ZimInd Scribe Elected Misa Deputy Chair

LOUGHTY Dube, the Zimbabwe Independent’s Bulawayo Bureau Chief, was at the weekend elected the deputy regional chairperson of the executive committee of the Media Institute of Southern Africa (Misa)

Dube was unanimously elected at the institute’s meeting in Pretoria, South Africa and he also instantly became the deputy chairperson of Misa’s Regional Governing Council (RGC).

The RGC is composed of chairpersons of 11 Southern African Development Community member states in Misa.

The institute does not have chapters in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Mauritius.

Dube will deputise Swaziland’s Lomcebo Dlamini, who beat Botswana’s Laona Segaetso for the top regional post.

The other members who made it into the four member executive committee were South Africa’s Noma Rangana and Zambia’s Henry Kabwe. The two came in as committee members.

Apart from his regional responsibilities, Dube would, however, remain chairperson of the National Governing Council of Misa-Zimbabwe. — Staff Writer.
