SPLASH-AND-GRAB: Police in England are investigating a bizarre spree of distraction thefts after a woman had water thrown over her and a handbag containing £10 000 stolen.

 

She had just come out of a bank after taking out the cash when she was drenched. A man who helped dry her off then pinched her bag, reports The Sun.

It is the latest in a string of similar incidents in Brighton and Hove, East Sussex. People leaving banks were pelted with paint, peanut butter and dog mess –– and then robbed.

A police spokesman urged people leaving banks to be alert. –– Ananova.

FALLING-IN-LOVE: Two lovers ended up in hospital in Taiwan after their car plunged 150 feet down a cliff face as they made love in the back seat.

Lin Gu, (25) and lover Lee Shin, (29) were left with broken bones and bruises after their car toppled over the edge of a hill in XinDian.

A spokesman for police who were called by witnesses said: “They had parked up close to the edge of the mountain and had left the handbrake off.

“When they started having sex the rocking motion started the car moving and it rolled off the hill. They were lucky they were not more seriously hurt.”

The two lovers had driven to a deserted mountain road and parked but their movements made the car topple over the edge and roll down to the bottom of the valley. Despite their injuries –– and being covered with mud and grass –– the couple managed to clamber back up to the road where the woman asked the man to keep walking while she sought help at a nearby house.

Homeowner Chen Chenggang said the woman pleaded with him not to reveal how the accident happened as her husband “would definitely sue for divorce”. –– Ananova.

LEAKY-EXPOSURE: A corrupt Chinese official has been condemned to death after a leaky toilet led to the discovery of his huge hoard of illicit cash.

Yan Dabin, a former director of transport for Wushan County near the southwestern city of Chongqing, was sentenced on Friday for taking bribes totalling 22,3 million yuan (£1,7 million) from road building companies.

He was arrested after a Chongqing resident called a police station to complain that water was trickling through his ceiling from a vacant apartment above.

A police officer went to investigate and in the bathroom of the apartment, which was owned by Yan, he found a leaking toilet and eight waterlogged cardboard boxes containing 9,4 million yuan. –– Reuters.

BUM-BRANDER: A jealous husband is in trouble after branding his initials on his young bride’s buttocks on their wedding night.

British police want to question the 54-year-old after he forcibly used a cattle brander on his 22-year-old new wife. He reportedly tried to justify the assault by saying he wanted to make sure other men knew she was “his”. Police called him in for questioning after his wife contacted a local women’s rights organisation.

A police spokesman said: “We want him for questioning. He has some explaining to do.” –– Ananova.
