DSTV’s Studio 53 lifestyle programme this week comes to Zimbabwe where host, Kudzai, visits one of Zimbabwe’s cultural icons, the Reps Theatre.
Having started over 70 years ago as a reading group, the theatre company
has grown and established itself as a mainstay of the arts. Studio 53’s Kudzai helps DStv audiences find out what makes Reps tick.
Another stop is Kenya where the annual Concourse de Elegance is a highlight on the motoring calendar in Nairobi. This year proved no different with enthusiasts proudly showing off their vintage treasures. Studio 53’s Fareed visited the event in the hope of for an opportunity to drive one of the classical vehicles.
Burkina Faso’s charming capital — Ouagadougou — which is probably best know for the Fespaco Film Festival held there every two years, will also be featured. But not to be overshadowed by Africa’s biggest film showcase, Ouaga as it is known, has its own allure. Rosie discovers that built around the central market, the city has large shaded avenues, modern architecture, and lovely municipal gardens.
The show rounds off in South Africa, where Mapumba visits the Soweto Wine Festival which is running in its third year.
A repeat of Studio 53 is on tomorrow on Mnet at 6pm.
