Joining Zanu PF: biggest blunder Moyo ever made

WHEN Professor Jonathan Moyo abandoned his criticism of the government at the height of the draft constitution, I was shocked and disappointed.

He was my hero dur

ing his days at the University of Zimbabwe. But that ended when he embraced Zanu PF. I despised him during the draft constitution era and hated him more as Minister of Information.

The articulate professor must be a bitter man for having been used by Zanu PF. The Tsholotsho prize-giving ceremony was probably a set-up by his fellow Zanu PF colleagues.

The guest of honour, Justice minister Patrick Chinamasa retained his seat in the central committee while other participants at the function such as Thenjiwe Lesabe, Joseph Chinotimba and Josaya Hungwe secured their places in the central committee as well.

While the Speaker of Parliament Emmerson Mnangagwa led the Midlands delegation to the central committee branches, Professor Moyo was dumped for supporting him, Chinamasa and Mama Lesabe.

Professor Moyo should not have associated himself with Zanu PF. It is a ragtag party of political renegades of diverse shades. Zanu PF is good at using people and dumping them like rubbish. It is a party that awarded Solomon Tawengwa national hero status and denied the same to real hero Lookout Masuku.

Remember Josaya Hungwe with his anti-freedom fighting Padare programme? Phillip Chiyangwa terrorised villagers as a Rhodesian police reservist.

About Zanu PF, ask Edgar Tekere. He has been through it together with Enos Nkala who founded the party.
