Act now on Norton

THE story of Norton Town Council paying $7 million for a phone bill, “Norton chair splurges on phone bill as town burns”, (Zimbabwe Independent, October 1) is shocking.

serif”>This is especially so when virtually everything has collapsed. No water, no refuse collection and nothing tangible going on in the council to talk about.

We have been having water supplies cut for an average of five hours a day since 1999 and nothing seems to be changing yet the council can afford to pay such amounts of money on phone bills for an individual.

If the Ministry of Local Government is serious and concerned with the residents of Norton, it must act now to save the little that is left.

Rubbish bins are going for a fortnight without being collected in the Katanga area where I stay. Someone please help.
