Triathlon season resumes

Staff Writer

THE triathlon season resumes on Sunday after a festive season break with the Arundel King Fisher Spar competition on at Mount Pleasant Pool.

ace=”Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif”>Several triathletes in all age groups and senior categories are expected to turn up for the fourth edition in the King Fisher Spar series, the first tournament for the year.

Veterans Dave Gardener and Dave Martin will lead the senior men pack, while Pam Chalmers-Fulton and Linda Rossoeu should continue with their domination of the female events.

Juniors will however provide most of the participants as has been the norm in previous local triathlon competitions. Zimbabwe has lost a number of top triathletes in the 20s age range to emigration and college scholarship offers abroad.

Once again versatile top junior athlete Asheigh Finnaughty will be expected to romp home comfortably in the junior women events, with the sternest competition expected from Tyler Crabbe.

Some of the top junior men to participate include Gareth Crabbe, Travis Brown, Brian Gibbons and Gareth Donnelly.
