ZIMBABWE has been given the go-ahead to host an international workshop on issues affecting the banking industry.
known as the Basel II intensive workshop, the event is planned for Meikles Hotel, Harare, from October 4 to 8.
Being an international workshop, it is anticipated that participants will come from as far afield as South Africa, the United States and Europe.
The Basel workshop idea was introduced by the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ).
Basel I or the 1988 Basel Capital Accord is a commitment by central bank governors within G10 countries to apply a minimum capital requirement to internationally active banks in the G10.
The workshop facilitator will be Chris Thomas of Crown Agents Financial Services, a renowned banking expert who has criss-crossed Eastern Europe.
