ESTATE agents have welcomed the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP)’s crackdown on prostitution in Harare’s Avenues area, saying the move will result in property values increasin
The ZRP, in conjunction with members of the Central Intelligence Organisation, this week moved into the Avenues to try to weed out prostitution.
The area has over the years witnessed rampant prostitution and crime resulting in loss of property.
Landlords in this area have been leasing their properties to foreigners, especially those from West Africa, who pay in United States dollars.
“The move is very good because it will go a long way to reduce the crime rate in the Avenues,” an estate agent said.
“However, some may see this as discrimination on the part of females who live in the area and they could claim that it is an infringement on their rights. We, however, welcome the ZRP’s move and hope they will move into other suburbs too.”
