ZIMBABWE’S latest motor trade magazine, Car Mag, is set to hit the streets this month-end following its pre-launch in Bulawayo at a colourful ceremony attended by major players in the industry l
The new glossy magazine, whose distribution is expected to be 20 000 copies monthly, will cater for advertisements and sales in old and new vehicles, motor insurance, canopy and motorbike sales, among others.
Car Mag chief operations officer, Chris Vukani Mhlanga, told businessdigest this week that the 50-page full-colour magazine would initially target the local market while plans for the publication to be marketed in Botswana, South Africa and the United Kingdom were at an advanced stage.
“The primary focus at the present moment is to market the car magazine locally but later on we will target the United Kingdom, Botswana and South Africa where there are a lot of Zimbabweans working,” said Mhlanga.
The magazine also targets advertisers offering products or services relating to vehicles while other businesses specialising in motor accessories have space allocated to them.
Mhlanga said the motivation for publishing the magazine was derived from South African and Botswana motor trade magazines, Auto Trader and The Advertiser respectively.
“The motor industry in Zimbabwe has not been adequately covered and Car Mag will, come month-end, provide the platform and create a market for the motor industry world,” he said.
On the style of the magazine, he said emphasis would be on advertisements – both classifieds and block – while editorials would be accepted from advertisers.
Mhlanga said they were currently working on the development of a website that would allow visitors to access information and the latest trends in the motor industry.
He said the editorial team for the magazine would be publicised once the magazine was on the streets.
