“This is market speculation and you know what happens when this begins,” he said. “We only bought their insurance firm Orion Insurance and have been on good terms ever since. We are not taking over or joining hands with Century.”

Market watchers had pitted Interfin, an emerging financial powerhouse, to take over Century which has been under Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) scrutiny since the unearthing of the ENG Asset Management scandal. The scandal has ruffled feathers at Century led by Gary Shoko.

The group was suspended from the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange and was only admitted last week after publishing a cautionary statement informing shareholders about its exposure to ENG. Tsodzai said his group was just “consolidating on what we have right now”.

Interfin Holdings comprises of Interfin Merchant Bank of Zimbabwe Ltd, Interfin Securities, Interfin Asset Management (Pvt) Ltd, and Altfin Holdings Ltd.
