THE dynamics of corporate governance will come under scrutiny at a seminar being held by the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators in Harare on February 26.
Speakers at the Dynamics of Corporate Governance Seminar, which is being held at the Sheraton Harare Hotel, have been drawn from the trade unions, management consultants, accountancy firms and the Commercial Arbitration Centre.
Chief executive officer of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators Farai Musamba said corporate governance was an important issue.
“Many of our members, as chartered secretaries, have a key role to play in promoting good corporate governance,” he said. “This seminar will give them and other senior executives an opportunity to look at the dynamics involved in corporate governance from a variety of viewpoints. The events that are unfolding in the financial services sector greatly underscore the need for good corporate governance in this sector and within the broad spectrum of Zimbabwean business.”
The seminar will begin with a presentation on “The role of labour in corporate governance” by Collin Gwiyo who is both deputy secretary of the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions and general secretary of the Banking and Allied Workers’ Union.
A panel discussion will be held to give participants in the seminar an opportunity to ask questions and exchange views with some of the speakers.
