Church appointed Rainbow Towers GM

RAINBOW Tourism Group (RTG) has appointed British hotelier David Church general manager for its five-star flagship hotel, The Rainbow Towers, previously Sheraton Hotel.

Church will commence his duties at the re-branded hotel on M

onday.

“We are delighted to have David join our young (and) dynamic management team,” said group CEO, Chipo Mtasa.

“With his solid base in hotel management, he is bound to make significant inroads and add value to the development of the new Rainbow Towers brand.”

Church, a holder of an advanced B Tech degree in hotel and catering management from a Plymouth College in the UK, will be joining Rainbow from Cape Town’s Lagoon Beach, the largest five-star hotel in the southern hemisphere, where he was general manager.

He was general manager of the Royal Hotel, a five-star hotel in Durban which is over 150 years old.

“My vision is to see the Rainbow Towers become the best hotel and conference centre in Zimbabwe by 2007 and a leading hotel in southern Africa by 2008. We want to focus on staff training and development, as people are our greatest asset,” said Church.

The Rainbow Towers brand was adopted on March 28. The official launch of the brand is scheduled to take place in the last quarter of this year.
