THE Zimbabwe Allied Banking Group (ZABG) has donated $30 million to the Hwange Colliery Company (Hwange)’s Managing Director’s Christmas Cheer Fund as part of its corporate responsibility.

The MD’s cheer fund is akin to the mayor’s cheer fund which is held annually by other cities and towns.

Hwange town falls directly under Hwange Colliery Company.

ZABG chief executive, Steven Gwasira, said the donation was part of the bank’s corporate responsibilities to societies in which they do business.

ZABG has a branch in Hwange which is one of the bank’s major clients.

“This donation is part of our effort to give back to the society and we believe it would help,” said Gwasira.

“We consider it important that we appreciate the efforts that the society is making to help our business grow.”

He said the donation was a gesture of appreciation of the relationship that the bank enjoys with Hwange and the company.

Hwange said the money would be used to help old people’s homes and other disadvantaged members in the town, as it would children orphaned by HIV and Aids and assist home-based care groups in the town. – Staff Writer.
