Coventry, who won three medals in the Athens Olympic Games last year, including a gold in the 200m backstroke, is anticipated to qualify for all finals in the five events that she would be contesting.

Brand, who is also a US-based Zimbabwean student, will be swimming in the 100m medley, 50m butterfly and 100m freestyle.

“We are pretty confident that Kirsty will reach all her finals. Heather is not a Kirsty, but she will swim well,” Aquatics Association of Zimbabwe president, Peter Dulzell, predicted.

There are no qualifying events for the World Championships, and national associations are invited to choose swimmers who meet their own local standard times. – Staff Writer.
