STRIDES Modelling Agency, the organisers of Miss Rural Zimbabwe, will starting next year introduce Mr Rural Zimbabwe modelling pageant.
Strides executive director, Sipho Mazibuko, revealed to IndependentXtra last week that
Miss Rural Zimbabwe would next year run concurrently with Mr Rural Zimbabwe. Mazibuko said the Mr Rural contest would be held at the same with Miss Rural.
We are introducing Mr Strides Rural Zimbabwe which will run at the same time with the Miss Strides Rural Zimbabwe.
The reason behind our introduction of this male modelling pageant is that, currently, there is no gender equality in our competitions, she said.
Mazibuko said whenever she went to rural areas for Miss Rural contests, boys always complain of being left out but now I think they will be happy with this.
Miss Rural Zimbabwe is in its second year running.
Finals for the inaugural beauty pageant were held in Kariba last year. Tomorrow, Miss Rural Zimbabwe Midlands provincial finals will be held in Shurugwi.
Meanwhile, Mazibuko said Strides has secured lucrative contracts for three models with two of South Africa’s top modelling agencies, Head Models and Star Model Management.
She said they were finalising full details of the contracts for the models. She could not be drawn to reveal their names due to contractual obligations.
