IN a major development for satellite television viewing, a brand new channel is to be launched on DStv on September 25, when the world-famous Disney Channel starts broadcasting.
The Disney Channel has signed a multi-year deal wit
h MultiChoice Africa to bring one of the leading family television services to subscribers across sub-Saharan Africa.
The channel will feature programming from Disney Channel Worldwide, which represents some of the most successful portfolio of children’s television channels in the world, reaching more than 600 million viewers in over 100 countries. Disney Channel Worldwide comprises 24 Disney Channels, eight Playhouse Disney Channels and nine Toon Disney Channels.
Highlights of programming available to DStv viewers will include popular live action series like That’s So Raven, The Suite Life of Zack & Cody and Hannah Montana, as well as Disney Channel original movies that will include this year’s global hit and cultural phenomenon, High School Musical.
Contemporary animated series like Kim Possible and American Dragon will also be screened, along with entertaining and educational pre-school shows such as Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Disney’s Little Einsteins and My Friends Tigger and Pooh and classic Disney feature films for the family such as Lady and the Tramp and The Heffalump Movie.

The Disney Channel will be broadcast 16 hours a day seven day a week on DStv channel 82 – formerly the site for Mindset Learn, which moved recently to channel 100. — Own Correspondnet.
