Scribes should take up history

WHY is it that some journalists seem to be ignorant of the historic fact that Zimbabwe, and Rhodesia before it, has never been a colony – never a British colony and that Britain has never been “t

he colonial power” nor the “colonial master” of this country?

One only has to research some historical facts to see that this country was established by the British South Africa Company and that after 1923, while British in name, it was never “ruled” by British governments.

The governors who came to this country from Britain were only sent as a symbol of loyalty to the British monarchy but had no say in the running of the country at all.

Would it be possible to encourage journalists to study history before using these meaningless or false phrases as the public is getting more and more drawn into this belief that Zimbabwe was a British colony?
