Sundowns hunt Yohane

By Colleen Tafireyi

PRETORIA giants Mamelodi Sundowns have approached Wits University for the services of Warriors left-back Charles Yohane.

ns-serif”>It emerged this week that the three-time South African league champions’ French coach Paul Dolezar, who recently snapped up another Zimbabwe international in Esrom Nyandoro, was hunting for the signature of Yohane.

Both Yohane and Sundowns public relations officer Alex Shokane confirmed that there were talks but said nothing concrete was yet agreed.

“It’s true that we have already sent an offer to Wits but they seem to be unwilling to release him. He still has a year running on his contract and as a captain and star player of the team it won’t be easy to get him,” Shakane said in response to IndependentSport inquiries.

Yohane (30) told this paper that he was interested in joining the Pretoria-based giants if his team agreed. “Presently I have a contract to honour at Wits and if I’m to move it will be with their blessing,” he said.

“Sundowns have called me twice over the past week but my coach Roger de Sa seems to be against the idea. He wants me to see off my contract which expires next season.”
