FEMALE junior rider Imy Pollen will carry Zimbabwe’s hopes at the BMX World Championships in the Netherlands this weekend.

Sandy Rowan, secretary of the Harare BMX Association, told IndependentSport that the young rider would be among the favourites to scoop the top position at this year’s event.

“There will be about 150 girls contesting in Imy’s events this time round but she will obviously use her experience from last year to end in a medal position,” she said.

The Zimbabwe team also includes Pollen’s young brother Kurt (6) and seven-year-old Scott Donaldson.

Rowan said Zimbabwe, however, failed to send senior riders due to financial constraints while some seniors who could have travelled will be writing exams later this year.
