CAPS United and Warriors goalkeeper Energy Murambadoro will be out of action for at least three weeks through injury, a development that could derail the Premier Soccer League title aspirants.

The agile goal-minder, who worsened the condition of his troublesome ankle during his side’s 3-2 defeat by Highlanders last Sunday, has been advised by a local surgeon to take a three-week break after which he will resume light training.

Murambadoro is also likely to miss the Warriors clash against Swaziland in a Cosafa Castle Cup semi-final match at the end of this month.

In an interview this week, Murambadoro said the injury was nothing new.

He said: “The injury has been a problem since last year. I have been trying hard to continue playing while carrying the injury. Now it appears the pressure from the Nations Cup campaign as well as the league championship has impacted on the injury. I have been advised to take a three-week break after which I will resume light training.”

Last year Murambadoro was among the Castle Lager Soccer Stars of the Year finalists.

Meanwhile, the heat will be on champions Highlanders and Caps, who both play tricky away fixtures this weekend.

Bosso face Kambuzuma United who are fighting hard to avoid relegation, at Gwanzura Stadium tomorrow.

Second-placed Caps travel to the Colliery Stadium on Sunday to face the wrath of resurgent Wankie.

Fixtures:

Tomorrow: Kambuzuma v Highlanders (Gwanzura), Sporting Lions v Blue Swallows (Rufaro), Motor Action v Black Rhinos (Sakubva).

Sunday: Dynamos v Lancashire (Rufaro), Wankie v Caps United (Colliery), AmaZulu v Sundowns (Luveve), Shabanie v Chapungu (Maglas).
