A DELEGATION of business partners from the Belgium-based internationally acclaimed sports consultant firm, Euro Club Services (ECS), is expected in Zimbabwe

next week to evaluate progress in the establishment of a sports academy in Mhangura and Alaska.

The sports academy is the brainchild of a partnership between ECS and local sports consultant firm, Worldmark Sports International (WSI).

ECS chief executive officer Gino Laureyssen, who is in charge of marketing, will lead the delegation.

It will be Laureyssen’s second trip to the country inside two months after doing so in June at the invitation of WSI to evaluate the project.

He said ESC business partners were interested in Zimbabwe as an investment vehicle and were willing to discuss available opportunities.

Other members of the delegation include Roland Kayaert, who specialises in sports media and broadcasting, a doctor Declerq, Kine Lieven Maeschalk (sports medicine), Francios Laureyssen (ticketing and boarding) and Pierre Lano (turf tracks).

WSI director Themba Mliswa told IndependentSport this week that the delegation, which has people of international repute, has a mission to develop sport in Zimbabwe and the region through partnerships.

The delegation, Mliswa said, would tour the facilities in Mhangura and Alaska with a view to establish an academy of international repute.

Other African countries will use the turf project in Mhangura estimated to cost US$300 000.
