ZIMBABWE’S Olympic-bound swim-mers Kirsty Coventry and Brendan Ashby are in top form ahead of the games set for Athens in August.

Commonwealth Games gold medalist Coventry came first in three events in strong fields that included other swimmers who will also represent their countries in Athens.

Alabama State University student Ashby also gave a good account of himself by reaching the last stages.

The Zimbabwean duo was using the Albama tournament to prepare for the Olympics.

Coventry and Ashby are currently training under different coaches in the USA and will leave this month for a pre-tournament camp ahead of the games. The camp will be held in Athens, Greece, where the world’s best sports persons will converge for the Olympic Games in August.

“They will not be coming home but will go straight to Greece for the camp,” said Zimbabwe Aquatic Association president Peter Dulzell.
