CARRINGTON Gomba, one of Zimbabwe’s outstanding footballers this season, has vowed to make up for the penalty he missed last week by helping Hwange reach the final of the $200 million CBZ Cup.
The young midfielder missed hi
s take in a penalty shootout when he featured for the Southern select against the Eastern side in a regional Unity Cup tie last weekend.
The Southern region lost 2-4 on penalties after a one-all draw in regulation time.
“I was so disappointed on Sunday when I missed the penalty,” said Gomba.
“But I have put that behind me now and I am now focusing on us winning against Chapungu.”
Gomba knows Sunday’s semi-final away to Chapungu at Ascot will not be easy, he still exuded confidence Hwange’s time had come.
“We won’t put the fact that we are away from home in our minds. We will just try to play well,” he said.
“Anything can happen in a match but we want to fight till the very end.”
