GARTH Dale is leading the Zimbabwe Golf Asso-ciation (ZGA) Amateur Order of Merit after he scooped the Mashonaland South Championships last weeke
Dale won the tour-nament played at Cam and Motor and Kadoma Golf Clubs on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
He has now accumu-lated 150 points and is followed by national junior team captain Nick McDonald with 136 points, Ryan Lang (131), Derek Benade (120) and Rob Saurombe (103).
Dale put up a con-sistent performance at the Mashonaland South Championships to beat a field of some of the country’s best amateur golfers.
The Order of Merit for Amateur is determined by the golfers’ perfor-mances in the different tournaments played throughout the year.
Remarkably, all themembers of the Zim-babwe junior team that came second at the All Africa Challenge tour-nament in South Africa two months ago are still in the top 40 ranking.
These are Farai Chi-tengwa who is in 17th position with 30 points, Nyasha Mauchaza on 30th position with 13 points and the pair of Farai Kandarira and Anyway Wachi who have gained five points and are on positions 38 and 40 respectively.
Meanwhile, several amateurs will converge at the Chapman Golf Club this weekend for the Chapman Grand Slamin which players will also earn points.
