Basketball Union of Zimbabwe (BUZ) secretary-general Donald Wasterfall told IndependentSport this week that the country had been invited to the tournament as part of Zambia’s independence celebrations.

“Zimbabwe was invited to be part of the celebration and the teams leave on Thursday and return next Monday,” Wasterfall said.

Wasterfall said Zimbabwe was also getting requests from teams in the region to play friendly matches. Although Wasterfall could not be drawn into revealing the names of the teams IndependentSport gathered that a team from Kenya had expressed interest to play the national team by the end of the year.
