THE multi-million dollar school of excellence, a sports academy being established in Mhangura, received a boost this week when one of the partners in the venture, Euro Club S

In a letter to their local partner Worldmark Sports International (WSI), ECS president Gino Laureyssen who was in the country last week to assess progress in the ambitious project, said he was pleased with the project.

The academy is the brainchild of two sports management firms, ECS and WSI.

With an injection of US$50 000, the school of excellence will be responsible for identifying talent in the country and market various sporting disciplines.

To achieve its objectives, the establishment will work in partnership with the responsible sports controlling bodies in the country such as the Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa), the Zimbabwe Cricket Union, the Zimbabwe Rugby Union, Tennis Zimbabwe and the Zimbabwe Professional Golfers Association.

So far an agreement has been signed with Zifa and soccer training is underway in Alaska and Mhangura.
