DYNAMOS Football Club could soon appoint a new executive chairman after the Harare side’s board of trustees last week resolved to abolish the holdin
g of dual roles in the club.
Chairman George Shaya, also a board member, is expected to be replaced.
Shaya declined to comment on his position this week, saying he was on leave, but IndependentSport understands the club is already on the hunt for a new chairman in a move that will see a reshuffle of the entire executive.
Club sources said secretary-general Keith Guzah could be elevated to chairman, while former player Lincoln Mutasa is also a favourite with the board.
Other Dynamos officials to be affected by the changes include Sunday Chidzambwa, the club’s technical director who also sits on the board. The club is also considering abolishing the technical director’s post altogether, according to the sources.
Board member Freddy Mkwesha, who is director for junior coaching, could also relinquish his coaching post.
The Dynamos board, meanwhile, last week began a forensic audit of the club’s accounts since November last year. The Premier Soccer League (PSL) management committee has already furnished the auditor with the club’s gate-taking files since the beginning of the season.
The auditor’s results are expected to be out this week.
