THE Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) Matabeleland branch is set to honour outstanding business people from the region at a dinner gala to be held at a local hote
l this month.
The awards to be conferred to business people in the categories of Businessman of the year, Businesswoman of the year and Business person of the year, will be open to over 200 companies and business people that make up the membership of the ZNCC in the region.
The other categories will include the Rural Business person of the year award, Best HIV Conscious Company in the Region and the Exporter of the year award.
The dinner gala has been pencilled for the evening of October 17.
ZNCC regional manager for Matabeleland, Cain Mpofu, said preparations for the dinner gala were at an advanced stage and they were now working out prizes with sponsors for the different categories.
“The sponsorship of the awards has been encouraging and we are now working out how the prizes will be apportioned in each category, otherwise, everything is moving according to plan,” said Mpofu.
“We hope there will be incentives for members for their outstanding performance in the course of the year.”
The winners of the awards will automatically qualify for the national awards due to held in Harare before the end of the year.
Last year’s winners include Nomsa Sobantu of Biscuitman, Christopher Mareverwa of Chrijoy while the National Railways of Zimbabwe were the winners in the HIV Conscious Company award.
The awards will be presented at a time when the business community is facing economic problems precipitated by a ballooning inflation rate and a crippling foreign exchange rate that has seriously affected many businesses throughout the country.
