George Hotel turned into commercial complex

IN what will be a major boost to the Avondale business centre, the first tenants have started moving into the new PaSangano office complex.

Formerly The George Hotel, the building was acquired by FG Investments in 2004 and since

early 2005 the building has been undergoing an extensive redevelopment to convert it from a suburban hotel into one of the most modern commercial buildings in Harare.

FG Investments chairman Lovemore Mangwende said work was almost complete on the building and the first tenant had already moved in.

“This tenant is MultiChoice Zimbabwe, which has been able to consolidate its operations under one roof, having previously operated across three separate venues around the city,” he said.

“We are delighted to welcome them and look forward to the arrival of the other tenants in coming weeks.”

Other tenants lined up are leading Internet service provider MWeb Zimbabwe, Travel Connections, WorldSpace Zimbabwe and a new hi-tech electronic goods store, Digital World, incorporating Zacks. A new family restaurant, part of the Panarottis franchise, will open in December.

Mangwende said the response to the new building from tenants had been positive and customers of MultiChoice had been expressing pleasure at the ease of access, user-friendliness of the venue and the proximity of secure parking.

“This building is already a major enhancement to the Avondale commercial centre and will continue to bring business to the area. We are sure this development will be a catalyst for further upgrading and development within the centre and its surrounds.” — Own Correspondent.
