It will be available in both one litre and two litre pack sizes and we are confident that its tangy citrus taste will make it a favourite on the Zimbabwean market,” said managing director Shongwe Ndoro.

Schweppes is Zimbabwe’s leading non-carbonated beverage company and the region’s largest producer of dilutable beverages.

The soft drinks company was recently taken over by a group of indigenous businessmen, after being affloaded by Coca Cola Central Africa Ltd.

The beverages include the well-known Mazoe Orange Crush brand, which is now exported widely throughout the southern African region, as well as further afield to the United Kingdom and Australia.

In addition to the Mazoe range, Schweppes also manufactures and distributes the Calypso range of syrups, Ripe ‘n Ready cool drinks, Freezits, the Tarven range in a variety of fruity flavours and the popular Schweppes mineral water.

“We recently embarked on a massive investment project, worth in excess of half a billion dollars, aimed at upgrading all aspects of the Schweppes operation – including plant and equipment, systems, operations, information technology, safety, environmental aspects and distribution,” Ndoro told guests at the launch of Mazoe Blackberry.

“This has poised us to become the southern African region’s premier producer of a wide range of quality non-carbonated beverages and a market leader in this sector. With the introduction of Mazoe Blackberry cordial we continue to fulfil our goal of selectively broadening our family of brands in line with the proliferation of individual tastes and lifestyles in today’s world.”

Ndoro said the company’s market research showed that consumers wanted beverages that reflected where they lived, work, play and relax.

“Above all they want variety and choice. As we cater to the needs of a changing market, through innovation and increased variety, we build on the firm basis of quality and excellence that has hall-marked our operations in this country for more than 50 years,” he said.
