Celsys clinches Adondo exclusive rights

Staff Writer

CELSYS Ltd has secured exclusive rights to be Zimbabwe’s sole provider of Adondo GSM payphones from the manufacturer Psitek.

serif”>The listed telecommunications company will now be the only distributor of the payphones which are currently being marketed under the brand name of “C-Phone” (Community payphones).

The payphone project was launched last year as part of efforts to fill the communication gap left by TelOne payphones which were vandalised.

The deal also gives Celsys the permission to maintain the payphones instead of sending them to the manufacturers Psitek in South Africa.

The new exclusive distributorship would fall under Celsys’ communications department – Celsys comms.

The company recently acquired The Comshop, which is the sole Nokia phone distributor in Zimbabwe.

Celsys has its own chain of retail shops branded “talkworld”. Psitek was established in 1990 and has an estimated 80% market share of the payphone business in South Africa.
