Building societies are worse

YEARS ago you got real service from banks and could even be issued with such niceties as left-handed cheque books. Today there are no services, just “services” for which you pay!

ana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif”>However, building societies are far worse, taking three weeks to clear cheques. If this is not a rip-off in today’s inflationary climate of 230%, I don’t know what is.

In addition, the interest paid is not only extremely low, but most building society account holders do not receive any interest. As if this were not enough, building societies have initiated all sorts of extra, mandatory charges generally without properly informing their account holders.

It is about time the authorities clamped down on this blatant profiteering!
