THE jury for the Cannes Film Festival’s Palme d’Or has spoken out over claims of sexism prompted by the lack of female filmmakers in the running. Critics have complained that all 22 films in the contest have been directed by men, many past winners of the award.

MEIKLES Hotel in Harare killed two birds with one stone last week when they briefed local and regional journalists on plans for, and progress made on, the five-star hotel’s US$7, 5 million refurbishment and then invited the press to sample a special Mothers’ Day lunch to be served in the flagship La Fontaine Grillroom on Sunday, May 13.
