African Sun Takes Over Luxury Zambian River Lodge PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 15 October 2009 17:11

ZIMBABWE-based pan-continental hospitality group African Sun Ltd (formerly Zimbabwe Sun) has recently acquired the Royal Chundu Zambezi River Lodge, in Zambia, according to South African hotel trade publications. This not only launches the blue-chip group’s operations in Zambia, but also introduces the first five-star luxury lodge to its growing property portfolio.

The lodge is situated on the Livingstone side of the Victoria Falls close to where the frontiers of Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Namibia meet.

The property features 14 rooms described as Mainland or Island Suite Lodges.

Activities at the lodge include unparalleled game and bird watching, canoe trips and fishing, as well as cultural tours to the nearby Katambora tribal village.

Other features include an infinity swimming pool on the mainland and private plunge pools on the island. A de-luxe spa will also be available.

Royal Chundu Lodge is expected to open to the public on November 15, according to the regional trade papers.

Attempts to get an African Sun spokesperson to confirm the acquisition and provide further details of the group’s plans proved fruitless as we went to press yesterday.
